Yesterday was my last at EC-Council Asia Pacific, after close to 2 years there. I made the decision back in September ’09 and decided to stay on to overlook the Hacker Halted Asia Pacific 2009 event. The event officially ended last week, and I spoke to my boss on Tuesday to ask for a release.
The last week as the Senior Marketing Manager of EC-Council Asia Pacific is my best ~ where I had the best team work during the Hacker Halted event. No one spoke about the need to have proper lunch or breaks or that they are so tired that they are unwilling to contribute. There was no complaints and everyone was motivating each other to keep everyone on tab. The feeling was great, and for such a long time I felt no one had any hidden agenda. For myself and a selected group of team members, we stayed in Hotel Nikko so that we could start work at 6:30AM and wrap up the day by 12:00 midnight. It was a tiring 5 days but the feeling is unexplainable..
Leaving was a very tough decision – I knew that the hard work I’ve put in will go down the drain when I walked out of the door. The partners would be left thinking why I left. My marketing strategies would be half-way done. My vision & ideas will never be realized. As I grew in my career, I also became more vocal and it was not easily acceptable, which I clearly understood. In other words, I outgrew what was expected of me.
I clocked out at 7:15PM on my last day – packing up my personal belongings and after seeing my cubicle for the last time.
Today is my first day of not going to work, it felt funny, felt very different. No emails to check, no issues to look into, no phone calls to answer. I woke up at 9:15AM and headed to the wet market to get food for myself and for the stray dogs. I had the luxury of time to eat breakfast while reading newspaper. I didn’t switch on the laptop at all ~ I used the phone to tweet, that’s all. I had lunch with a friend and then back at home by 4PM. Carefree day. I’m trying to relax a bit
What’s my next move? Hmm.. I’ve got some opportunities awaiting and I’ve decided on one, which I’m not disclosing until I’m fully settled down. I’m looking forward to the exciting opportunity awaiting – I know that once I have my heart & soul into it, I can go very far. I’ll use my experience and knowledge to steer me ahead. Meanwhile, I’m still seeking new knowledge and improving what I already know.
For this week, I’ll spend my time house keeping, shopping and doing up this blog of mine.
Life is great, as always!
